Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:  $3,557 - $4,150* per month over 12 months for 10 months of work

PURPOSE:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Student Disability and Accessibility Center (SDAC), the Testing and DHOH Coordinator is responsible for independently overseeing the testing accommodations and ASL interpreters for disabled students. This team member works with a high degree of self-direction while responding to student requests for services, problem-solving any challenges with accessible media/ASL accommodation implementation, and supporting communications at multiple levels. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

Test Center Coordination

  • Coordinates and schedules testing of students with disabilities, and provides alternate options in a timely manner, in collaboration with SDAC advisors as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with the SDAC Accommodations Coordinator for alternative formats and media for testing for students with disabilities.
  • Prepare materials and/or arrange for materials to be returned to the academic department(s).
  • Coordinate with SDAC Advisors and/or academic departments to confirm test dates, and consult with Property Management to confirm and secure test facilities when needed.
  • Evaluate, establish, develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports statistics on testing volume, types, patterns, participants, program data, and other relevant details.
  • Participates in the strategic planning process for the Test Center, including assessment of and recommendations for test center program effectiveness, as well as development of communication materials and funding proposals for the Test Center. Makes recommendations in alignment with federal, state, local, CSU, and CSUMB policies to advance the unit's long-term strategy to provide support services that ensure equal access for students with disabilities.
  • Coordinates with Operations Analyst and SDAC Director on issues related to operational needs and expenses for the Test Center.
  • Consults supervisor as appropriate on matters outside routine operations, providing recommended changes to resolve complex problems or approaches.

Accommodations Coordination

  • Provides work direction to student assistants/proctors for testing and DHOH. Includes recruitment, hiring, scheduling, workflow, and timesheet review and reconciliation. Works collaboratively with the Accommodations Coordinator to provide overall SDAC student assistant support coverage.   
  • Coordinates the workflow of campus hourly ASL interpreters, including the recruitment, onboarding, training, workflow, scheduling, and timesheet review and reconciliation.
  • Provides coordination and maintains protocols, liaisons, and process improvements to effectively provide services with on and off-campus service partners related to DHOH services, including consultants and vendors (eg, Center for Academic Technologies; ASL services, real-time captioning). 
  • Clarifies and follows up with requests to respond effectively to the needs of students, faculty, and staff for testing/DHOH services.
  • Refers to and consults with SDAC Advisors and the Director where there are no defined policies and processes, and makes related recommendations.
  • Develops, oversees, and evaluates legally mandated services and upholds professional standards, policies, system-wide mandates, executive orders, and procedures to serve CSUMB students, including applying the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the related California statutes, and the CSU Policy for the Provision of Accommodations and Support Services to Students with Disabilities

Specialized Equipment Operations:

  • Leads Deaf Services video transcription and video captioning, including post-production and live captioning services.
  • Knowledgeable about the operation of specialized accessible technology equipment.

Other Functions:

  1. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of: applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures; English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; office systems and budget policies and procedures.

Ability to: use a broad range of technology, systems and packages; independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects; apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections; draft and compose correspondence and standard reports; handle effectively a broad range of intrapersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and skills in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents, combined with several years of office related work experience.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

Proficient in the use of technology, systems, and packages, including word processing, email, and spreadsheet, mail merges, database programs, and electronic scheduling software. Ability to recognize confidential matters and maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a multicultural and diverse community using respect and effective interpersonal skills; take proactive and positive measures to ensure optimal support of the office. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of Federal, State, and University regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse academic environment. Exceptional ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, persuasive, and tactful manner. A strong customer service attitude and commitment are essential.  Demonstrated ability to address the essential functions associated with this position, including the knowledge and abilities identified above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

College degree.  Thorough working knowledge of CSUMB.  Specialized training in administrative/clerical support, assistive technologies, and accessible medical.  Includes proficiency with database management, student information systems, presentation, and graphic design/creative-based software. Experience working with diverse populations in an academic setting.  Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite; Oracle-PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system; Google mail and calendaring programs. Experience in hiring and supervising student staff.  General knowledge of: the California Education Code, the State and Federal regulations regarding disability issues and policies, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, and FERPA.

Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent <student/finance> information system; Microsoft Office Professional; Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Forms, etc.); 25Live; intranet drives; and internet browsers.
